“Identity is Destiny”
​Abstract Paintings by Two Seekers

Anuphan Pluckpankhajee and ​Taweesak Uchukatanon

​This exhibition is the result of a journey of seeking, learning, and recording the inner experiences of two young artists. One traveled to study in New York, USA (Taweesak), while the other studied in Stuttgart, Germany (Anuphan). Despite their different locations, both studied under the same school of thought known as "Anthroposophy," a discipline that defines itself as the "Science of Spirituality.”

​Their abstract works reflect distinct personalities and identities. Both artists have continuously immersed themselves in their practice and dedicated themselves to their work, both while living abroad and upon returning to their homeland.

​What makes this collaboration intriguing is how these two Eastern artists, raised in different times and places, translate their perspectives and life experiences into art. These abstract paintings serve as reflections of artistic creation fueled by the power of philosophy.

​In any journey, a traveler encounters diverse people, societies, and environments, absorbing unfamiliar cultures. These new perceptions accumulate and integrate with their quest to find the meaning of life and their attempt to discover a unique personal identity through their artistic practice.

นิทรรศการนี้​นำเสนอผลงานจากการแสวงหา เรียนรู้ และบันทึกประสบการณ์ด้านในของ 2 ศิลปินหนุ่ม คนหนึ่งเดินทางไปศึกษาที่รัฐนิวยอร์ก ประเทศสหรัฐอเมริกา (ทวีศักดิ์) ส่วนอีกคนหนึ่งไปศึกษาที่เมืองสตุตการ์ท ประเทศเยอรมัน (อนุพันธุ์) ทว่าทั้งคู่ต่างไปเรียนจากสำนักปรัชญาเดียวกัน ที่เรียกว่า “มนุษยปรัชญา” (Anthroposophy) ซึ่งสำนักนี้เรียกตนเองว่า “ศาสตร์แห่งจิตวิญญาณ”

​งานจิตรกรรมนามธรรมที่สะท้อนทั้งบุคลิกภาพและตัวตนที่แตกต่าง และต่างก็ซึมซับเรียนรู้และมุ่งทำงานอย่างต่อเนื่อง ทั้งในขณะที่ใช้ชีวิตในต่างแดนและยามเมื่อคืนสู่แผ่นดินถิ่นเกิดแล้ว

​แม้ว่าเขาทั้งสองได้เดินทางกรุงเทพฯ-นิวยอร์ก กรุงเทพฯ-สตุตการ์ท ซึ่งเป็นการเดินทางเชิงกายภาพ หากชีวิตด้านในหรือการเดินทางของจิตวิญญาณ เป็นสิ่งที่ทั้งสองให้คุณค่าสูงสุด ฉะนั้นจึงนิยามงานชุดนี้ว่าเป็น “การเดินทางภายใน”

​ความน่าสนใจ คือ เขาทั้งสองเป็นคนตะวันออกที่เติบโตต่างเวลาและสถานที่ ทั้งมุมมองและประสบการณ์ชีวิต งานจิตรกรรมนามธรรมจึงเป็นภาพสะท้อนของการสร้างงานจิตรกรรมจากพลังแห่งปรัชญา ​การเดินทางนั้นนักเดินทางต้องประสบพบเห็นผู้คน สังคม และถิ่นที่แตกต่างกัน รับรู้วัฒนธรรมที่ไม่คุ้นชินของตน ฯลฯ ซึ่งความรับรู้ใหม่ทั้งปวงนั้นสั่งสมและประสานกับความพยายามค้นหาความหมายของชีวิต อีกทั้งการพยายามค้นหาอัตลักษณ์เฉพาะตนผ่านการทำงาน
